Serious Money Ohio is an independent financial planning and insurance agency serving retirees and pre-retirees in Toledo & Northwest Ohio.

Fred Quinn, founder, has practiced since 1982 and serves as primary planner.

Insurance company relationships

We are appointed with 11 insurance carriers as of October 1, 2026, including Reliance Standard Life, Global Atlantic and Midland National. We do not represent every carrier or product on the market.

How we are compensated

We are paid commissions by insurance carriers when a client purchases a product. Commissions vary by product and carrier but are generally from 1 to 6% of the amount deposited.

There is no fee for the Retirement Income Checkup, Annuity Decision Process, or the review of an existing annuity.

How we make recommendations

For over 44 years I've followed a client-focused, data driven process. The goal being to determine the course of action that best allows the client to achieve their goals. Only then can we determine what "products" best fit that course of action.

We talk first. I learn what you want your financial and personal life to look like.
We gather the full picture. We inventory your income, expenses, assets, liabilities, legacy goals and taxes.
I run the numbers. Using modern planning software, I analyze your options.
I explain what I found. I present the results in plain language, so you understand the benefits and tradeoffs.
You decide. The choice of the next step is yours, with no pressure and with all the information in front of you.
